Our silver specialists have over 80 years combined experience in precious metals. Once we receive your package the first thing we do is check the box for damage, and make sure there are not any tears, holes or problems from shipping. We also weigh the box on our large scales and document what we received.
We then unbox all your items and individually assess what they are and sort them based on materials. One of the first steps is to run a magnet over everything to make sure it is non magnetic. We thoroughly check for markings on each piece as well.
If something is unmarked or we are unsure what the piece is, we use x-ray fluorescence technology to better read the surface and see breakdowns of what metals are present in the items you sent.
There are a variety of ways to see exactly what something is and if it is real or not. You can tell based on how malleable some items are, and the sound they make when dropped.
